I was excited to come to Swans Creek Elementary School to teach music when it first opened in 2001, and am still happy to be here! I enjoy watching your children learn and grow through music.
I aim to provide your children with opportunities to be actively involved in making music through singing, moving, playing instruments and creating music. We also listen to a variety of music from throughout history. I grew up in New York and Connecticut, and knew from an early age that I wanted to be a music teacher! I always thought it was such fun to sing songs and play instruments in school that I wanted to be the one leading children in music class. I attended SUNY College at Potsdam (The Crane School of Music.) My applied majors were piano and string bass. Yes, I used to play string bass in the orchestra when I was in college. I have taught in schools in Maryland and Virginia, including Fairfax County and Quantico. I live in Dale City with my husband, who is a high school math teacher, and two cats. We have three children; the youngest is a music major at Old Dominion University. I am also the organist at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Woodbridge. | ||||||||||||||||
